Suresh Raina steps up to meet and guide budding cricketers of Jammu and Kashmir

Ever since Chennai Super Kings landed in the gulf country, their miseries seemed to be never-ending. Firstly, their contingent members tested positive for COVID-19 only to delay their outdoor sessions. Then key player and backbone for years, Suresh Raina decided to pull out from the tournament citing personal reasons.

There isn’t a single day where Chennai fans don’t remember him for his heroics for the Yellow Army all these years. Raina’s very own Chennai will take against Mumbai Indians in the first match today. However, on the eve of the IPL 2020  opener, Raina took an initiative that has made him hit the headlines once again.

The official Twitter handle of Jammu & Kashmir gave information on how Raina has called the DGP of the state to extend assistance to budding cricketers of J&K. Before some time, he also became vocal about his opinions on the same matter and addressed a letter to higher authorities of the state.

The tweet read– “Famed Indian Cricketer Sh Suresh Raina @ImRaina called on DGP J&K Sh Dilbag Singh at PHQ Srinagar and had discussions about a series of plans of J&K Police for encouraging local youth in honing their #sports skills. He volunteered to meet and guide some cricket teams.”

Raina, who drew curtains on his international career along with former Indian skipper MS Dhoni remains to be one of the most respected cricketers in the nation. After his retirement, even PM addressed a letter to him appreciating his efforts, for contributing immensely to Indian cricket.

Can Raina return to CSK this year?

Though the stylish southpaw has returned to his hometown in India, he has hinted a possibility of donning the CSK jersey this very year, in an interview. Even the management hasn’t signed any replacement for the attacking batsman, it will be an interesting thing to watch whether he returns or not. For now, he finds it fine to spend time with his young family for whom he took this bold decision.

The big action of IPL opener is all set to see Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians standing tall against each other to steal away the glory tonight, September 19.
