IPL 2020: Match 25, CSK vs RCB – Kohli’s fifty between the wickets, Dhoni’s records, CSK’s worst start and more stats
Royal Challengers Bangalore is continuing their good run in IPL 2020 with their 4th win in six matches as they got the better of Chennai Super Kings by a huge 37-run margin. Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 90 off only 52 balls played a key role in taking RCB to 169/4 in the 20 overs. CSK lost their opening pair to Washington Sundar in the powerplay itself and struggled to get going from there. Super Kings reached 96/3 in 15 overs while RCB were on 95/4 at the same stage but the heavy required rate saw CSK crumble to 132/8.

CSK’s worst start; RCB’s best:
2 – Chennai Super Kings has got only two wins in their first seven matches; the joint-fewest they won in their first seven games of any IPL season. CSK won only two of their first seven games in the 2010 edition as well.
8 – Royal Challengers Bangalore now have got eight points from first six matches in the 2020 edition; the most they got after first six games in an IPL edition. RCB earned 8 points apiece in their first six matches of the 2010 and 2013 editions as well.
A rare duck for ABD in IPL:
2016 – The last instance of AB de Villiers getting out for a duck in the IPL was way back in the 2016 home game against Kings XI Punjab. De Villiers batted in 42 innings between his preview two ducks in the league history.
4 – AB de Villiers has been dismissed for a duck on nine occasions in the IPL out of which four came against Chennai Super Kings only. Gautam Gambhir (v MI), Rohit Sharma (v RCB), Kedar Jadhav (v KXIP) and Dinesh Karthik (v SRH) are the other players to bag as many as four ducks against as opponent in IPL.
T20 Milestones galore for players of both the teams:
150 – The wicket of Ambati Rayudu was the 150th wicket in Isuru Udana’s Twenty20 career. Udana is now only the 5th player from Sri Lanka to have bagged as many as 150 wickets in Twenty20 cricket.
300 – The six MS Dhoni has struck in the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal was his Twenty20 career’s 300th six. Dhoni is now the 22nd player to hit as many as 300 T20 sixes and the 3rd Indian to do so only after Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.
1035 – Ambati Rayudu, when on his individual score of 7, completed 1000 runs in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings. He is now the 9th player to amass 1000 IPL runs for the Chennai franchise.
6059 – Virat Kohli completed 6000 runs in Twenty20 cricket for the Royal Challengers Bangalore when his individual score was past 31. Kohli now became the first player in T20 cricket to complete 6000 runs for a single team.
Dhoni’s feats behind the stumps:
106 – The two catches in CSK vs RCB has helped MS Dhoni to move on to the top in the list of keepers with most catches in the IPL surpassing Dinesh Karthik’s 104 catches.
106 – MS Dhoni now has claimed 106 catches in T20 cricket for the Chennai Super Kings which are the most by any player for a single team in the Twenty20 format. Dhoni went past Lancashire’s Steven Croft who had 105 T20 catches for his county team.
Kohli’s fifty between the wickets:
50 – Virat Kohli scored exactly 50 runs by running between the wickets during his unbeaten 90-run knock in CSK vs RCB. These are the most number of runs scored by a player in an IPL inning through running between the wickets.
Manish Pandey in his unbeaten 114 against Deccan Chargers during the 2009 edition, Virat Kohli in his 100* against Gujarat Lions during the 2016 season and David Warner in his 100* against RCB last year also scored exactly 50 runs through running between the wickets in an IPL inning.
