IPL 2020: Match 10, RCB vs MI – Sundar’s economical spell, A high-scoring Tie, Ishan’s record knock and more stats
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has witnessed two tied affairs in just ten matches as the game between RCB and MI ended in a dramatic Tie before Bangalore franchise held nerves in the Super over. Fifties from Aaron Finch (52), Devdutt Padikkal (54) and AB de Villiers (55*) power the RCB to 201/3. In reply, Mumbai Indians failed to get going with the required rate and also lost four wickets by 12th over. But Ishan Kishan’s gritty 58-ball 99 and a devastating 60* off 24 balls by Kieron Pollard took the game into super over where RCB chased it down eight runs on the last ball.
Here are all the statistical highlights recorded during a high-scoring Tie between RCB and MI:
A high-scoring Tie in the IPL:
201 – RCB and MI contribute to the highest-scoring Tied game in the history of IPL by scoring 201 apiece on Monday. Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals scored 191 runs apiece during the Tied game between them in the 2015 season in Ahmedabad. Overall, this RCB-MI game was the 6th T20 match that ended in a Tie with both sides posting 200+ totals.
1 – This defeat in the Super over was the first for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. They won their previous two appearances in IPL Super overs – vs Gujarat Lions in 2017 and vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019. After this game, the Royal Challengers Bangalore also have a 2-1 win-loss record in the IPL Super overs.
ABD equals Gayle:

A record knock from Ishan:
99 – Ishan Kishan’s 99-run knock is now the 3rd highest individual score in the IPL by an uncapped Indian player. Paul Valthaty’s unbeaten 120 against CSK in 2011 and Manish Pandey’s unbeaten against Chargers in 2009 are the only higher IPL scores by uncapped Indians than Ishan’s 99.
3 – Kishan became only the 3rd player in the IPL history to be dismissed on ‘99’. Virat Kohli against Delhi Daredevils in 2013 and Prithvi Shaw against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2019 are the other players to be dismissed on 99 in this league.
9 – The nine sixes struck by Ishan Kishan in this game are easily the most by an uncapped Indian player in an IPL inning. These are also the joint 3rd most number of sixes hit by a player for Mumbai Indians in an IPL inning. Sanath Jayasuriya against CSK in 2008 and Kieron Pollard against KXIP in 2019 smashed 11 and 10 maximums apiece.
Sundar’s economical spell:
1/12 – The 12 runs conceded by Washington Sundar are now the joint 3rd fewest by an RCB bowler in an IPL match. (Min: 4 overs bowled) Yuzvendra Chahal went for 1/6 in the 2019 IPL opener against CSK while Samuel Badree took 4/9 against Mumbai Indians in 2017 where he took a hat-trick. Anil Kumble also conceded only 12 runs in his four overs during the 2009 season match against CSK.
Pollard moves on to the top:
3 – Kieron Pollard became the first player to complete three fifties in 20 or fewer balls during the IPL. David Warner, Sunil Narine and KL Rahul have got two such fifties apiece. Pollard had a 17-ball fifty coming against KKR in 2016 and a 20-ball fifty against SRH during the 2013 season in addition to his 20-ball fifty on Monday.
7 – Pollard now has the 2nd most number of fifties in the IPL which were scored in less than 25 deliveries. The fifty against RCB was his 7th IPL fifty completed in fewer than 25 balls. David Warner has eight such fifties while AB de Villiers and Virender Sehwag have six each. The fifty against MI was De Villiers’ 6th IPL fifty he reached in less than 25 balls.
Yet another game of fifties:
5 – This game between RCB and MI is only the second in the history of IPL with as many as five 50+ scores. The Sunday’s game between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals became the 1st IPL game with five 50+ scores.
1 – For the first time in the IPL, as many as three players scored 50+ runs in an IPL match for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Their inning is now the 5th instance in the IPL with three players scoring fifties in the same inning. Last of the previous four were recorded by Rajasthan Royals on Sunday against KXIP.
MI’s six-hitting spree:
16 – The 16 sixes hit by Mumbai Indians in this match are the most by them in an IPL game. MI surpassed the 15 sixes hit during the 2017 IPL game against Kings XI Punjab in Indore.
This is also the first time any team has struck 15 or more sixes in a T20 match at this Dubai Sports City Stadium. A total of 26 sixes were hit during the match including the ten by RCB team; by far the most number of maximums hit during a T20 at the Dubai Stadium.
