Marlon Samuels launches embarrassing attack on Ben Stokes for his quarantine remarks

England’s explosive all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is in terrific form in the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, recently opined on how it feels to be in a 14-day quarantine period locked in a hotel room. Stokes had left the England vs Pakistan Test series mid-way to be with his ailing father in New Zealand. Upon arriving in the Kiwi country, Stokes had to serve a 14-day quarantine period due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The all-rounder found his whole process to be taxing and mentally challenging. Stokes revealed that there are special hotels for serving the quarantine hotels and it completely depends on your luck whether a person gets a good place to stay in or not.

Speaking on the Test Match Special Podcast, Stokes stated, “You get off the plane, get your bag, walk out and get told what hotel to go to. There’s no choice, it’s pot luck whether you get a good hotel or not. The government have chosen certain hotels to be the quarantine hotels.”

I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy: Ben Stokes
Sharing the experience of his quarantine period in detail, the 29-year-old reckoned that it was something that he wouldn’t even wish for his worst enemy. He jokingly added that he told his brother that being in quarantine is so bad that he wouldn’t even wish this for his arch-rival Marlon Samuels.

“I posted a few Instagram stories and some of the England boys were messaging me asking what it’s like and I was saying it wasn’t the most enjoyable thing you ever have to do, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy,” he said.

“I text my brother saying the same thing, and my brother asked: ‘You wouldn’t even do that to Marlon Samuels?’ I said ‘no, it’s that bad’ – that’s how tough it was.” the all-rounder concluded.

Marlon Samuels uses derogatory remarks for Ben Stokes

Though Stokes had taken Samuels’ name in the podcast in a funny way, it didn’t go well with the Caribbean cricketer. Sharing the statements made by Stokes on his official Instagram handle story, Marlon called Stokes a b***h, followed by further disparaging remarks.

The tension between Stokes and West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels began way back in 2015 when the latter gave a salute send-off to the former after taking his wicket in a cricket match. This didn’t go well with the England cricketer and he had made it quite obvious in his autobiography Firestarter. While referring to Samuels, Stokes had written “I do not like him one bit”. The two were also involved in a verbal battle during the final of the 2016 T20 World Cup which was eventually won by the Caribbean side.
