‘We will not lose him’ – David Warner to try his best to retain Kane Williamson for IPL 2021 season

The IPL franchise  Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper David Warner clears the air regarding the presence of the New Zealand captain Kane Williamson in the SRH squad for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is speculated that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to expand the T20 Championship by adding the ninth team.

It is no brainer that the inclusion of another team would mean that there will be a mega auction ahead of the IPL 2021. Thus there are chances that many big stars would have to leave their teams and join other franchises. In the same view, there was a strong doubt among the Orange Army fans that Kane Williamson will not don the Orange jersey in the next edition.

While answering the questions asked by his fans in the comment section, David Warner opined on Williamson’s future in SRH. Warner assured the cricket enthusiasts that Hyderabad will not lose the New Zealand skipper in the mega auction.

A fan commented, “Kane for next auction. He is the future of SRH after you.” Warner was quick to reply, “We will don’t worry. We’ll hope they do, I want him.”

Another fan had a similar query as he wrote, “Sir is that true that next year there will be a mega auction and they saying that there are chances of losing Kane in SRH team is that true.” To this Australian batsman replied, “We will not lose him”.

Kane Williamson is an important part of SRH

Kane Williamson plays a pivotal role in giving a balance to the Orange Army. He has very well stabilised SRH’s middle-order and had a good run in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). In 12 matches, the right-hander collected 317 runs at an average of 45.28 and a strike rate of 133.75.

His two important knocks of IPL 2020 came in the Eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals. Playing against RCB, Kane smashed 50 off 44 at a strike rate of 113.64 to take his team home in the do-or-die fixture. Following this, Williamson played an important knock of 67 runs in 45 deliveries in Qualifier 2 but couldn’t take the team to the finishing line.
