Suryakumar Yadav likes a controversial meme trolling Virat Kohli; unlikes it later

The Mumbai Indians swashbuckling batsman Suryakumar Yadav has hogged all the limelight ever since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian squad for the ODI, T20I and Test series against Australia, starting from November 27. Suryakumar performed brilliantly in the just-concluded 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020), therefore, it was speculated that the batter would be making his much-awaited debut for the Men in Blue.

However, contrary to the popular belief the right-handed batsman hailing from Mumbai didn’t find a spot in the National squad. This resulted in a heated debate in the cricket fraternity with many people questioning the Indian selectors for being harsh on a promising youngster.

Suryakumar was definitely not happy with the selectors and captain Virat Kohli over the Indian snub and had made his emotions very clear by getting involved in a sledging episode with Kohli during a match between MI and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In a reverse clash against RCB, MI batter had smashed unbeaten 79 off just 43 deliveries to help his side clinch the game.

Suryakumar Yadav likes a meme trolling Virat Kohli
Suryakumar Yadav is once again in the news, however, this time for all the wrong reasons. The 30-year-old apparently liked a controversial meme on Twitter which was trolling the Indian captain and was meant to favour the Mumbai Indians skipper and India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Though the Mumbai Stalwart had unliked the tweet later, it was too late as many had already noticed this activity of the young gun.

The meme was from Tamil drama-thriller Master. It showcased Hitman (Rohit Sharma) fighting with the BCCI selectors, Paper Captain (Virat Kohli) and haters. This controversial incident again raised the possibility of bad blood between Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.

Notably, who among Virat and Rohit should lead India in the shortest format of the game is the hot topic of the cricket fraternity. After Rohit led his IPL franchise Mumbai to their fifth title, some felt that he would be the right choice for leading India. RCB, on the other hand, is yet to win their maiden IPL title.

However, many cricket legends and analysts including Kapil Dev and Aakash Chopra have backed Virat saying that India has done considerably well under his leadership, therefore, India should not practice split-captaincy. Also, Mumbai has much better players when compared to Virat’s RCB who is overly-dependent on Kohli and AB de Villiers.
