Staying in bio-secure bubbles does get difficult at times: Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, has admitted that staying in bio-secure bubbles can get difficult for the players. The Delhi-born is currently a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) and has already been a part of the bio-secure bubble for two months.
It doesn’t end for Virat as after the completion of the T20 tournament, he would be heading to Australia where Team India are scheduled to play a Test, ODI and T20I series. The tour of Australia will start on November 27 and will continue until January 19 with the last Test at the Gabba in Brisbane.
Kohli didn’t mince any words in saying that staying in bio-secure bubbles can affect the mental health of cricketers. He also asked for the length of a series to be reconsidered.

These things have to be thought about seriously: Virat Kohli
“It’s repetitive, it’s not as tough when the group of guys is amazing, which we have. Everyone part of that bio-bubble is really nice, the vibe has been so good. That’s precisely why we’ve enjoyed playing together, just enjoyed our time in the bubble as well, but it does get difficult at times because it is repetitive,” Virat was quoted as saying in RCB TV.
“These things will have to be considered. Like what length of the tournament or series one is going to play and what impact it will have on players mentally to stay in a similar environment for 80 days and not do anything different. Or have space to just go and see family or small things like that.
“These things have to be thought about seriously. At the end of the day, you want the players to be in the best state mentally, based on how they’re feeling. Those conversations should take place regularly,” the 32-year-old added.
Kohli has done a fair job in the IPL. RCB qualified for the playoffs and would be playing against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday, November 6, in the Eliminator at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Virat’s own form has been a tad jittery, but he remains as a crucial member of the team.
