IPL 2020: RR mute a few words ‘forever’ after defeat to SRH in Dubai

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) started the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a couple of thumping wins at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. However, their campaign has tended to fall apart a wee bit. In their last nine matches, Steve Smith and Co have won only a couple of matches and are currently staring at elimination, languishing at seventh in the points table.

On Thursday, October 22, RR lost to the Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With the win even as SRH moved to fifth in the table, the Royals kept gasping for breath. As far as the match was concerned, the Sunrisers restricted the Royals to an under-par 154 for the loss of six wickets. Barring Sanju Samson’s 26-ball 36, none of the batters get a substantial score. Jofra Archer’s seven-ball 16 injected momentum into the innings.

In the run-chase, Archer sent back both David Warner and Jonny Bairstow to set the cat amongst the pigeons in the SRH dugout. But Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar stitched together an unbeaten partnership of 140 to take SRH over the finishing line.

After the defeat, the Royals didn’t seem to be happy by any means. They uploaded a picture where they muted a few words, namely, ‘One Large Biriyani, ‘Hyderabad biriyani’ and ‘Biriyani’. They captioned the picture and wrote, “Not hungry tonight.”

Moreover, the Royals and Sunrisers were engaged in another rib-tickling banter. On Sunday, October 11, RR beat SRH by five wickets after Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag played a couple of excellent knocks in the death overs.

Back then, the Royals had taken to Twitter and wrote, “Hey @Zomato, we’d like to place an order for one LAAAAARGE Hyderabadi Biryani. Location: One & Only Royal Mirage #WorldBiryaniDay.”

SRH, now, after winning, trolled the Royals back in a hilarious manner. The Sunrisers replied to them and wrote, “Cancel the biryani order our friends can’t handle the level of spice P.S. : Daal baati should just do fine. #RRvSRH #KeepRising #OrangeArmy#Dream11IPL.”

Here’s the Sunrisers’ reply:
