IPL 2020: Match 28, RCB vs KKR – RCB’s collective team effort, A quick-fire fifty from ABD and more stats

The Royal Challengers Bangalore produced a perfect team effort against the Kolkata Knight Riders to bag a huge 82-run win at the Sharjah Stadium. On a sluggish track in Sharjah, RCB struggled to score big despite losing only two wickets. But a sensational batting performance from AB de Villiers (73* off 33) lifted RCB’s total to 194/2 after they scored 83 runs in the last five overs. The Knight Riders never really got going in the chase while RCB bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals to claim a comfortable win.

Here are all the statistical highlights from a huge 82-run win of Royal Challengers in RCB vs KKR:
A huge win for the RCB:

2/9 – Only the 2nd time in the IPL that Royal Challengers Bangalore have won defending a total against Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB won while defending 213 in their previous meeting during 2019 edition at the Eden Gardens. Before these two matches, the Knight Riders won all seven IPL games against RCB while chasing a target.

112/9 – Knight Riders’ total of 112/9 during RCB vs KKR is their 2nd lowest 20-over total in the IPL. Their lowest is 108/9 against Chennai Super Kings during the 2019 edition match in Chennai.

A collective team effort from RCB:
1 – Royal Challengers Bangalore became the first team in the IPL to have as many as ten players scoring 30+ runs or picking at least one wicket in the same match. Shivam Dube was the only player to miss out as he neither got a chance to bat nor bowl in RCB vs KKR.

2 – Only the 2nd time each of RCB’s top four batters scored 30+ runs in an IPL inning. RCB vs KKR is also only the 6th instance of a team’s top four scoring 30+ runs during an IPL match. RCB’s first such instance came against Gujarat Lions in the 2017 edition.

6 – All the six bowlers used by RCB in this game ended up picking up at least one wicket. RCB vs KKR is only the 4th instance where as many as six RCB bowlers picked up at least one wicket in an IPL game – against PWI in 2013, against DD and KKR during the 2017 edition being the other three instances.

De Villiers goes past Gayle:
