IPL 2020: Jonty Rhodes, Preity Zinta, Sachin Tendulkar awestruck by Nicholas Pooran’s fielding efforts
Nicholas Pooran is an athletic prospect and he fields with intensity. The southpaw showed the same zeal in the match between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, September 27, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In the eighth over of RR’s run-chase, he saved a shot that had a six written all over it. The West Indies cricketer pulled off a superhuman effort at the boundary.
Sanju Samson tried to pull leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin over the deep mid-wicket boundary and Pooran dived full-length over the ropes. When he pulled out the dive, he was well over the ropes, and there was no way he could have stopped the leather from going for a six.
But Pooran managed to flick the ball back, moments before he touched the ground. The southpaw four crucial runs for his team and Samson could only get a couple of runs. However, KXIP lost the match by four wickets after RR chased down 224.
Praises for Nicholas Pooran
In the meantime, Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketer, was awestruck by Pooran’s efforts on the field. Sachin took to Twitter and wrote, “This is the best save I have seen in my life. Simply incredible!!” Jonty Rhodes, who was seen clapping for Pooran, lauded Pooran as well for the incredible piece of fielding.”
Rhodes retweeted Sachin’s message and wrote, “When the #godofcricket @sachin_rt says it is, then there really is NO question about it being THE best save, EVER. Fantastic work by @nicholas_47 who inspired the rest of the @lionsdenkxip fielders to put on 1 of the best defensive fielding displays I have ever seen #proudcoach.”

Preity Zinta, the co-owner of KXIP, couldn’t believe what he witnessed. Zinta took to Twitter and wrote, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this before. It’s so beautiful, so fluid it feels like poetry. This will go down in History as the best save & the best piece of fielding ever Take a bow @nicholas_47 @JontyRhodes8 @lionsdenkxip #KXIPvsRR #Dream11 #IPL2020 #Ting.”
Rhodes didn’t forget to retweet Zinta’s tweet either. Rhodes replied to Zinta and wrote, “If you need any more stuntmen for your next action movie @realpreityzinta then I think u should sign up @nicholas_47 #poetryinmotion #defendtheboundary #saddapunjab.”
