India vs Bangladesh | Virat Kohli & Co Face Terror Threat, Delhi Police Asked to Tighten Security
The Delhi police have been asked to reinforce the security of the Indian cricket team that will face Bangladesh in an international T20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital on November 3 after the National Investigation Agency (NIA ) received an anonymous letter. They claimed that the Indian team, particularly Captain Virat Kohli, was on a list of threats, sources said Tuesday.
According to sources in the Delhi Police, the letter contains a list that also includes the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Interior Minister Amit Shah, the unconditional Party Bharatiya Janata (BJP) Lal Krishna Advani, the acting President of BJP JP Nadda and Rashtriya The head of Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat.
Subsequently, the NIA sent the letter to the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI). The anonymous letter says that All India Lashkar, based in Kozhikode, Kerala, could attack Kohli and prominent politicians, a source said.
The sources also said that the card could be a hoax, but given the greater perception of threat, no opportunity is being taken and security reviews of the place of the match and the individual players are being carried out.
India is scheduled to play three T20I against Bangladesh, the first of which will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday. The three-game series will be followed by two tests.
