After a nail-biting Super Over thriller at Dubai, the extravaganza of IPL 2020 continued with Match 11 at Abu Dhabi where Delhi Capitals, the table toppers, locked horns with bottom-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad.

After being put to bat first, the Hyderabad side was bolstered by the opening pair of skipper David Warner and Jonny Bairstow. The duo stitched a steady 77-run opening stand. However, SRH’s run-flow was halted after they lost Warner and Manish Pandey in quick succession.

In the end,Jonny Bairstow , slamming a half-century, played a crucial role in SRH posting a commanding total on the scoreboard. He was also assisted by New Zealand stalwart Kane Williamson, who stitched a 26-ball 41 that included 5 fours.

In response, DC had a poor start after they lost an early wicket in the form of Prithvi Shaw. However, after suffering an early setback, Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Iyer weaved a 40-run stand to save their side from a debacle. DC lost both Iyer and Dhawan before the 12th over but quick-fire cameos from Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer kept them in the game.

In the end, DC required 44 runs from the last three overs. But DC’s hopes of a victory were shattered after Stoinis was shown the exit door by Thangarasu Natarajan on the last delivery of 18th over. In the end, the Delhi side managed to amass only 147 runs, handing a 15-run much-needed triumph to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Twitter erupted with wishes for Rashid Khan after SRH opened their account in the points tally and moved up to the sixth position. Rashid, after scalping three wickets and conceding just 14 runs in his four overs, was also adjudged Man of the Match.

Fans also were critical of Rishabh Pant, especially after witnessing Sanju Samson’s stellar in the tournament. Many felt that Pant should’ve taken up the responsibility against SRH instead of departing with a reckless shot.
