Cricketing Trends on Social Media Today

Internet was all about the commencement of much-awaited IPL 2020. The T20 extravaganza finally unfolded in the UAE as two heavyweights of the tournament locked horns with each other. It was the ‘El Clasico’ of IPL– Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings. Fans were also enthralled by witnessing MS Dhoni finally returning back to the game after a significant break.

The Yellow Army, led by Dhoni, won the toss and put MI to bat first. At the start, it looked like MI would be able to post a massive total on the scoreboard, especially with the presence of skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock at the crease. However, after the first four overs, MI struggled to keep wickets in hand. MI could add only 41 runs and lost six wickets before reaching to the 162-run total.

In response,  Ambati Rayudu struck a brilliant 71-run knock off 48 deliveries to steer CSK to the triumph. He was well assisted by Faf du Plessis’ half-century. The former South African skipper was also excellent on the field today, plucking three catches and making his presence felt. After the Rayudu-du Plessis partnership, Sam Curran’s blistering 18 off just 6 deliveries bridged the gap and CSK eventually clinched the season-opener by five wickets.

Wishes poured in for the Yellow Army after they started their IPL 2020 voyage on a positive note. The world also witnessed ‘The New Normal’ where the stadium had pre-recorded cheers and virtual fans in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
