Barinder Sran moves to Chandigarh after being ignored by Punjab for Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019

Barinder Sran, the left-arm pacer has decided to move on from his home side of Punjab, after the selectors ignored him for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, which marks the beginning of the Indian domestic cricket season 2019-20. Sran has also played six ODIs and two T20Is for India, picking a total of 13 wickets including the best bowling figure of 4/10 in T20Is.

Sran had made a name for himself on the domestic scene after picking up six wickets against Railways in Ranji Trophy 2015-16. He received high praise from then Punjab captain and former India player Yuvraj Singh, who called him a potential replacement for Zaheer Khan. He was named in the Indian team for the limited-overs series Australia.

Sran says he wasn’t given a valid reason for his exclusion from Punjab side
The left-arm seamer was left distraught after being left out of the Punjab side for the upcoming limited-overs domestic tournament. “They didn’t even give me a valid reason. At least I deserved to know the reason, of why I was dropped. The selectors stopped taking my phone calls. I had no other option. I can’t waste my entire season. So, I decided to make a move and have no regrets,” Sran was quoted as saying by Times of India (TOI).
The 26-year-old fast bowler secured a no-objection certificate from his parent state, Punjab, on Thursday to switch to the neighboring UT of Chandigarh. He felt that he was being let down by Punjab Cricket Association who was not giving him enough match time in order to stake a claim in the Indian team once again.

“I want to play for India again, but for that, I need to play. I am being let down by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA). But it is a thing of the past. I am fit now and it’s time to look ahead,” he said. Punjab chief selector Arun Sharma, on the other side, stated that though the pacer had decided to move on, there was no bad blood between him and PCA.
“Every cricketer wants to play consistently. It is difficult to fix your place in the Punjab side, as it has so many talented pacers. There is Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma, and Arshdeep Singh. This is completely his decision and I respect it and wish him well for the future,”
