Australia Women Overwhelm Sri Lanka Again to Extend Record Winning Run to 18 ODIs
A century at the top of the order of Chamari Athapaththu (103) of Sri Lanka could not prevent them from suffering a loss of 9 wicket against the powerful Australians. With a goal of 196 in 50 overs, the Alyssa Healy fit broke another ton, his third in ODI, to lead his team to victory within 27 overs in Brisbane on Wednesday. This was Australia’s 18th consecutive victory in the format.Healy threw 112 of only 76 balls and his tickets included 15 four and two six. Taking his form from the previous game, Rachael Haynes, broke 63 of 74 balls to give the Australians a convincing victory to take the 3-0 series. Australian batters crushed opposition bowlers throughout the park. While Sugandhika Kumari gave 36 runs in 4 overs, Athapaththu returned with 1/32 figures, which hurt visitors a lot. Once again, mediocre bowling came to torment visitors.
Early in the day, Sri Lanka after choosing to hit first, did not have the best time in between. Once again, Athapaththu was the team’s lonely warrior when she reached her fifth ton in ODI. She did not receive support from other batters. The next best score after his was against the name of Harshitha Madavi, who scored 24. All Australian bowlers worried Lankan hitters, and gave away no easy runs. While Jess Jonassen was at his best economic moment (3.17), Georgia Wareham got two wicket for 18 races. Megan Schutt also tested the success and returned with figures of 2/44. This loss marked the end of a tough tour of Australia for the islanders, where they were whitewashed in the T20I and ODI.
