Want to emulate what Rohit Sharma has been doing for Team India, says Pakistan’s Ahsan Ali

The Pakistan Cricket team rung in a plethora of changes to their T20 set-up in a bid to revive their fortunes in the shortest format of the game. The No.1 ranked T20I side in the world endured a horrendous 2019 where they lost eight of their nine completed fixtures, including a 0-3 whitewash at the hands of a second-string Sri Lankan outfit at home.

Hence, following a tumultuous last calendar year, the Misbah Ul-Haq team-management dropped as many as seven players including the regular opening duo of Fakhar Zaman and Imam-Ul-Haq. The Men in Green included uncapped opener Ahsan Ali for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and the youngster is excited at the prospect of representing his country.

Ahsan Ali’s favourite batsman is the current Indian opener Rohit Sharma and Ali wants to emulate what Rohit has been doing for Team India for the past few years now.

“My favourite current batsman is Rohit Sharma the Indian opener. I have a game plan & will try to show it to the world and become one of Pakistan’s best openers. I will also try to execute my plan and help Pakistan win and play for Pakistan as long as possible” Ali said as quoted by PakPassion.com.

Ahsan Ali relishing the prospect of playing for his country
Playing for your country in front of your home crowd is a dream for any cricketer and Ali, who feels that Bangladesh will be a tough opposition to counter, is looking forward to the challenge.

“Bangladesh is a tough opposition and it will be a competitive series against them. Every cricketer dreams to play in front of his home crowd. I hope the crowd comes in big numbers and support us. I am not under any pressure since I have already played pressure games in the Pakistan Super League,” said Ali.

Apart from Ahsan Ali and Amad Butt, Pakistan also brought back the experienced duo of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez while the likes of Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaza and Asif Ali have been dumped from the set-up. The three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will commence from January 24 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
