Not willing to compromise with my principles: Rajat Sharma resigns as DDCA President

Senior Journalist, Rajat Sharma, has tendered his resignation from the Presidential post of Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA). His 16-month tenure came to an end after it was officially announced by DDCA in their recent tweet. However, later, Sharma came out with some shocking claims that were the reason behind his resignation.

Rajat Sharma had a conflicting time while he was the President of DDCA and also had some public differences with Vinod Tihara, who is the general secretary of the association. Moreover, there were reports that the 32-year-old had joined the administration after getting strong backing from late Arun Jately.

Rajat Sharma after walking down from the post of DDCA President said that in the association there are some people, who are working against the interest of cricket. He also, added that he cannot compromise his principles of integrity, honesty, and transparency and it is not possible to carry on with DDCA.

“The cricket administration here is full of pulls and pressures all the time. I feel that vested interests are always actively working against the interest of cricket. It seems that it may not be possible to carry on in DDCA with my principles of integrity, honesty and transparency, which I am not willing to compromise at any cost,” Senior Journalist said as quoted by India Today.
Sharma also recited that although he faced many barriers during his tenure from the opposition. But, he always worked with transparency. However, now it will not be possible for him to carry on with it that is why he decided to resign with immediate effect.
“In my endeavour, though I faced many roadblocks, opposition and oppression, just to keep me from discharging my duties in fair and transparent. That’s why I have decided to call it a day and hereby tender my resignation to the Apex Council from the post of President, DDCA with immediate effect,” he added.
Back in 2018, during the DDCA elections, Rajat Sharma had defeated India‘s World Cup-winning cricketer Madan Lal in order to become the boss of the association.
