Glenn Maxwell is Brilliant for Australia in T20s: Pat Cummins
Like the rest of the cricket fraternity, Australian fast pitcher Pat Cummins is absolutely surprised at how Glenn Maxwell hit Sri Lanka in Adelaide in the T20I that opened the summer.
In his 60th T20I game for Australia, Maxwell scored a 62 of 28 balls after being promoted to number 3. His efforts, along with those of David Warner and Aaron Finch, helped establish a victory of 134 races, his biggest in T20Is by careers.
“Strange,” Cummins exclaimed. “I said with my tongue on my cheek that it seemed quite sensible, not everywhere, and then I saw that I had 45 like 15 balls. Just crazy.”
“It’s brilliant for us, especially in T20 cricket.”
According to Cummins, what makes Maxwell’s coup more special is that he seized the opportunity when he ascended, something he has often not been able to do in the past.
“You see many of our boys, they all beat in the first three [for their T20 franchises],” Cummins said. “We have many options, but yesterday he got hold of that.”
Australia will play the second T20I on Wednesday, October 30 in Brisbane, and the final match will be played on November 1 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
