‘Not too sure’ – SRH captain David Warner on Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s injury against CSK
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), on Friday, October 2, won back-to-back matches in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) and moved to the fourth spot in the points table. The Orange Army beat the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. However, SRH were dealt with a massive blow after Bhuvneshwar Kumar sustained an injury.
The pacer bowled only 3.1 overs after which he had to walk off the park. He tried to bowl after getting strapped up, but he pulled out midway through his run-up. Khaleel Ahmed completed the over. Though he conceded three fours to Ravindra Jadeja in his third over, he was economical, conceding 20 runs at 6.30 while also picking up the wicket of Shane Watson.
Troubles for Bhuvneshwar Kumar
In the meantime, David Warner, the SRH skipper, was asked about Kumar’s fitness. Replying to the same, the southpaw said that he needs to reach out to the physio to bring out more information.
“I am not too sure, have to speak to the physio, can answer this question when we have more information,” Warner was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference.
The Sunrisers are next scheduled to lock horns with the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, October 4 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. It remains to be seen if the Meerut-born Bhuvneshwar can make a recovery for the encounter.
As far as CSK’s match against SRH was concerned, it turned out to be an absolute humdinger. After the Sunrisers won the toss and elected to bat, they lost all their big guns- Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey- with the score at 69 in 11 overs. However, Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma bailed their team out of the precarious position.
Garg scored his maiden IPL half-century and guided SRH to 164 in 20 overs. During the run-chase, CSK found themselves behind the 8-ball more often than not. Ravindra Jadeja scored a fifty and MS Dhoni got 47, but despite their efforts, the Super Kings fell short. Abdul Samad bowled the 20th over with CSK needing 28 runs and he gave away 20 runs, including five-wides.
