‘Please learn something’ – A Pakistan fan trolls Ashwin after Starc leaves Rashid with a warning; spinner responds
England were up against Australia in the third and final match of the three-match ODI series on Wednesday (September 16) at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. Batting first, the hosts racked up a target of 302 at the loss of 7 wickets owing to the brilliant hundred by the opening batsman Jonny Bairstow.
Chasing 303, the tourists looked dead and buried at 5-73 – the lowest score Australia’s fifth wicket has fallen in an ODI against England since 1977. However, this is when Glenn Maxwell joined wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey on the field and the two together scripted a dramatic victory for their team. A record stand of 212 between Glenn and Alex helped Australia in winning the match by 3 wickets and clinching the series by 2-1.
Apart from Maxwell and Carey’s spellbound partnership, one thing that attracted the attention of cricket fans is the sportsman spirit displayed by the Australian pacer Mitchell Starc on the match field. Starc made notable contributions in a high-pressure match for Australia as he not only bowled a spell of 3/74 but also smashed 11 runs off 3 balls.
Mitchell Starc leaves Adil Rashid with a warning
In the middle of 49th over, England was playing at 287/7 and was on the verge of putting up a massive total on the board. While Starc was coming forward to bowl the next delivery, he noticed that the England spinner Adil Rashid was out of the crease. However, instead of sending the batsman back to the pavilion by running him out, Starc decided to stop and give a warning to Rashid to move back to the field.
This gesture by the pacer was applauded by many on social media as they hailed him for maintaining the spirit of the game. Amid all this, a Pakistan Twitter user tried to troll Ashwin by mocking him to learn something from Starc about the spirit of the game.
Last year while captaining Kings XI Punjab, Ashwin had dismissed the Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler by running him out as he was backing up on the non-striker’s end. This had resulted in a heated debate among the cricket fans.
The user tweeted, “Please learn something @ashwinravi99. This is how you play the game. #ENGvAUS”

However, Ashwin is not someone to step back, thus he took to his official Twitter handle to give a befitting reply to the troller. Ashwin reckoned that he believes in good fighting and will surely discuss this incident in a day or two.
The Indian spinner replied, “I believe in fighting the good fight but wait till the day after and I will get back to you on this. I would like to give a day to myself”
