India vs Sri Lanka: Special chemical being used to minimise dew impact at Holkar Stadium before second T20I

After the disappointing turn of events in Guwahati, Team India and Sri Lanka will be hoping that the second T20I gets underway without any sort of interruption. The first T20I in Guwahati was abandoned without a ball being bowled. While the rain stopped in less than an hour after the scheduled start, the ground staff did not have the right equipment to prevent from wetting the pitch.

The ground staff did try their best to dry the pitch and used the likes of hairdryers and steam irons in a desperate attempt to get the work done but to no avail. And almost three hours after the toss, the officials eventually decided to call off the game. Both the teams have now moved to Indore for the second game of the three-match series.
Both the teams will be keen to win the upcoming game in order to take an unassailable lead and brighten up their chances of winning the series. And the officials are also making sure that the players do not face any issue whatsoever during the day-night Test at the Holkar Stadium.



Chemicals to counter dew:
In an effort to counter the effects of dew, the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) has been spraying a special chemical on the outfield at the Holkar Stadium, according to Indian Express. MPCA chief curator Samander Singh Chauhan said on Monday that to beat the effects of dew, a special chemical was being sprayed over the ground since the last three days. He also said that the grass on the ground was also not being watered since the last three days to minimise the effects of dew.

“We sincerely hope the spectators will get to see fours and sixes raining in the match,” he said.

With the game set to start at 7pm, dew could play a pivotal role in deciding the result of the game. Usually the bowlers find it tough to grip the ball due to dew which can makes things easier for the chasing side. Team India has a very good record at Holkar.
