Anderson to Train at Manchester City’s Etihad Campus on Road to Recovery From Injury

Veteran England runner James Anderson is turning to Manchester City of Pep Guardiola as he hopes to recover from an injury in time for the South African tour in December, according to a BBC report. Anderson and England’s head of strength and conditioning Rob Ahmun met on Tuesday with the city’s head of sports science, Sam Erith, to discuss what a member of the England and Wales Cricket Board described as “a collaboration.” “This is a change on stage for Jimmy, but also in a way to take advantage of some of the best facilities and experts in the world, “he said.

Anderson, who trained with Burnley last year, will be on the Etihad campus in Old Trafford, which is also his native county, Lancashire. The 37-year-old lost most of the ashes due to a calf injury, after returning from the injury for the first test, he managed only four overs in the first Test against Australia in Edgbaston and has not played since then. England’s main ticket taker will use the world-class Etihad facilities and experience for two months and will be accompanied by Ahmun in that period. Anderson, who made it clear that he has no plans to retire, wants to play until he is 40, at least another three years.
